a greyhound, you know the plight this breed faces right here
in the United States. For those of you who don't, you
wouldn't believe how some states don't even treat greyhounds
as animals! For example, in Kansas, greyhounds are
exempted from laws that protect against the unethical
treatment of animals!
There are
still 13 states that allow greyhound racing. More than
7,000 dogs are killed each year due to abuse and disease, or
purposely killed because they can't run fast enough to
support the greedy and inhumane industry.
My
greyhound, Champy, came from a greyhound farm in Alabama.
He was 6 years old when I got him and he raced up until he
broke his leg, which was never even put in a splint!
He was riddled with tape worms, had rotting teeth and his
fur was nonexistent in places and very lackluster.
They never even gave him the basic shots against rabies and
other common doggy diseases, nor was he given heartworm
preventative. God only knows what abuse he suffered,
as he's terrified of many things.

The farm
that Champy came from is now shut down, but sadly, greyhound
racing continues in Alabama and other states.
Grey2KUSA is an
organization that was formed to protect greyhounds
